We’re Mish and Rob, we’re married, and in March 2012 we left our jobs in London with the aim of Making It Anywhere.

“Anywhere” so far has involved New York, Boulder CO, Washington DC, Paris, London, Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Penang, Berlin, Sofia and Madrid. Up next are Budapest, Berlin (again) and Lisbon.

“Making It”, for us, is doing the work we love on our own terms, and making more money than we were in our old jobs.

(There’s nothing wrong with bumming around in Bali on $500 a month, but we want to be able to afford to do the whole kids/London house/expensive-holidays-to-forget-about-the-kids-and-London-house thing if/when we want to stop travelling.)

How do we make money?

We run a web development and copywriting company called Mortified Cow, which helps awesome businesses with terrible websites. We have amazing clients, most of whom we’ve never met, and we help them to show off their amazingness online (and therefore make them more money).

We also, it’s fair to say, “dabble”. We invest in real estate in the UK, and Rob has a blog called Property Geek where he writes about it. He’s also written a book about how introverts can give great presentations.

Mish has written two of the world’s most niche books, with two of the world’s best titles – Haggadah Good Feeling About This and If I’m Not Mistaken, That’s Bacon.

Together, we’ve also written a guide to using Airbnb, a book so embarrassing we’ll only tell you about it once we’re really good friends, and we write the odd thing for sites like The Huffington Post, Brick Underground, Wired and Music Think Tank.

This blog is to show you how to travel the world and build a business you’re proud of

(Often, by avoiding all the stupid things that we’ve done.)

Sometimes we feel like we’re leading by example, and sometimes we reckon we’re just walking case studies of how not to do things.

Either way, the message is this: if we can do it, you definitely can. Way more easily than you think.

We’ve written about how you don’t need any techie skills, how to deal with business bureaucracy, and how to come up with business ideas – or you can even just steal ours. If you’re a couple, we’ve also got some pretty great advice for surviving when you spend 22.5 hours a day together.

But then, we’ve also admitted to a lot of mistakes. Like, a lot. Not least the crazy amount of stuff we travel with.
