The 2015 packing list

OK, so here’s the thing. When we first started travelling, our philosophy was “far better to buy the cheapest cheapest clothing and replace it frequently, than buy absurdly expensive gear and run the risk of it getting ruined somehow” (or stained with soy sauce, as my clothes are wont to do). Then Hong Kong happened – where we were living in a 24-square-metre apartment with the humidity of a tropical rainforest and the window-opening capabilities of a prison. We’d wash our clothes, hang them to dry, and wait four days…

10 more things I now know about Madrid

This time last year we spent a month in Madrid – afterwards declaring ourselves to be madly in love with it and predicting it to be the next digital nomad hub. Now that we’ve refreshed our memories with yet another month in the city (in exactly the same apartment as last time)… how does it rank? Is it just as good as we remembered? And how’s our prediction panning out? Here are some new things we learnt about Madrid this time around (or forgot to mention last time): The partying…

10 things I now know about Prague

Prague: looks better than it smells.

8.25 things we now know about Valencia

We’ve just spent five weeks living in Valencia, and neither of us can remember a time when we felt so happy, so healthy, so well-rested, and so productive. I’m not going to give Valencia all the credit, but this cute little city certainly deserves a big bunch of flowers and a thank you card. Here’s what we now know about it – and why it’s perfect for digital nomads: It’s a place to live, not to visit When you search “Valencia” on Google Images, you’ll mostly see two things: photos…

Packing list – 2.25 years in!

Spot the difference. I promise there's a difference.

We’ve come a long way. When we started this whole live-anywhere-while-we-work malarkey, we travelled around the world with these behemoths: Approximately 50kg of stuff that we didn’t need but lugged around with us anyway. Slowly slowly, we’ve been whittling down and realising just how little we need to be happy and comfortable. That sweatshirt that’s only really suitable for temperatures between 68 and 68.9 degrees? Out. The totally superfluous hairdryer (because all hotels and Airbnb hosts seem to supply one)? Chucked. The just-in-case fourth pair of shoes/third pair of jeans/tenth…
